Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.
- Hebrews 13:2
Adult Cantors
A cantor is much more than someone who stands up and sings alone. A cantor has been moved to serve in this ministry because God has bestowed on them the gift of song.
Being a cantor involves making the assembly's prayer possible through song. The cantor has the responsibility for any songs or hymns that require solo passages, leading the assembly in a recurring refrain to be sung and inviting the assembly to join voices in hymns used throughout the Mass. The Responsorial Psalm between the Old and New Testament readings, the Gospel Acclamation, and other proclamations, such as parts of the Gloria and various Litanies are o ther examples of the cantor's responsibility.
Adult Choir, Family Music Group and St. Rose Chorale
This is an opportunity to use your gift of song to present to the community in a way that can move the hearts of those who hear it; and to help lead the singing of the assembly, because “singing together in church expresses so well the s acramental presence of God to this people.”
The music ministry groups are open to adults and high school students.
The requirements to be a participant in one of the music groups at St. Rose of Lima is a a love of singing, the dedication to participate in our weekly evening rehearsals and participation in our Sunday Masses and various holiday Masses.
May all our voices join together to proclaim the goodness of the Lord.
